MY PRIORITIES
Student-Focused Leadership
Every decision made by the Board of Education should start with one simple question: What is best for students?
That means prioritizing academic growth, safe and well-managed learning environments, and meaningful student voice, while keeping the focus on education rather than political noise.
Students learn best in schools where expectations are clear, classrooms are supportive, and educators have the resources they need to help every child succeed.
Academic Excellence
Strong curriculum, responsible program evaluation, and measurable outcomes must guide our work. Families deserve clear communication about how our schools are performing and how decisions are made.
Educational expertise and meaningful data should guide policy decisions so that students graduate prepared for college, careers, and civic life.
Strong foundational skills in reading and mathematics must remain a core focus of our schools. Research consistently shows that strategically reducing class sizes in the early grades can improve reading and math achievement when implemented thoughtfully and evaluated transparently.
Our responsibility is to ensure that policies and programs are aligned with the goal of helping every student reach their full potential.
Empowering Parents & Supporting Educators
Parents deserve clarity about how the school system works and confidence that their voices are heard. Families should feel informed, respected, and able to partner with their schools.
At the same time, teachers and school staff are the foundation of student success. They deserve professional respect, strong leadership, and meaningful input in decisions that affect their classrooms.
When families, educators, and school leaders work together, students benefit from stronger relationships and more effective learning environments.
Responsible & Transparent Stewardship
The Board of Education has a responsibility to advocate honestly for the resources our schools need while ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and effectively.
Before launching new initiatives, we should ask:
• What problem are we solving?
• How will we measure success?
• Is this the best use of limited resources?
Clear goals, measurable outcomes, and transparent communication help build trust with the community and ensure that resources are used where they will have the greatest impact on students.
Preparing Students for the Future
Students should graduate prepared for whatever path comes next; college, career training, military service, or entering the workforce.
Our schools should provide strong academic foundations, career exploration opportunities, and practical skills that help students succeed beyond graduation.
